Our history.
Leonard & Alvin East found East Poultry
Leonard C. East and his young son Alvin G. East establish the business in Austin, distributing poultry bought from local farmers and ranchers across Central Texas.

Alvin steps into leadership
Alvin G. East assumes leadership of the family business. Under his direction, East Poultry begins to scale beyond local distribution — the first of many handoffs from one generation to the next.

Industrial-scale dressing plant
East Poultry grows to include a systematic poultry dressing plant capable of processing 25,000 chickens daily — a remarkable feat for a family-run operation in Central Texas.

Move to East 8th Street
The operation moves to a new home on the 700 block of E. 8th Street — today, part of the Austin Police Department occupies the site.
Move to 2615 East Sixth Street
East Poultry relocates to its present home at 2615 E. 6th Street, where the iconic rooster sign still stands today. It would become the company's longest-running address.

Kenneth J. Aune carries it forward
After working alongside Alvin in his final years, son-in-law Kenneth J. Aune takes the presidency. He would lead East Poultry for more than 40 years — the third generation in charge.
Brian Aune, fourth generation
Kenneth's son Brian Aune assumes the presidency, becoming the fourth generation to lead East Poultry. He continues the family's commitment to local restaurants, grocers, and Austin home cooks.
Hudson joins as fifth generation
Brian's son Hudson Aune joins East Poultry to support business development — the fifth generation of the family in 113 years, and the newest steward of a story that started in 1913.
